Privacy Policy
Short version
The Interlude Android app contains no ads, no trackers, and no telemetry. Everything you do in the app stays on your device. The website interludemusic.online is a static informational site; if advertising is enabled on this site (separate from the app), it uses Google AdSense and its standard cookie mechanics, which are described below.
Contents
1. The Android app
Interlude is a free, open-source YouTube Music client distributed via GitHub Releases under the GPL-3.0 license. The app does not create an account, does not sync to any Interlude-operated server, and does not contain any analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
What is stored on your device
- Your listening library, playlists, and playback history
- Downloaded tracks and the listening cache
- Listening statistics (top artists, songs, listening time)
- App preferences — theme, equalizer settings, lyrics provider priority
- Optional credentials you explicitly add, such as a Last.fm session key or Discord Rich Presence toggle
All of this data is stored in the app's private storage on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data from Android Settings.
What the app does not collect
- No advertising identifiers
- No device fingerprinting
- No usage analytics or telemetry
- No crash reports sent to a third party
- No email address, phone number, or account required
2. The website
This website (interludemusic.online) is a static marketing and documentation site. It is hosted on a standard web host, which records ordinary server access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and abuse-prevention purposes. These logs are retained by the hosting provider according to their standard policy and are not used by us for profiling or advertising.
The site does not use cookies for analytics, does not set tracking pixels, and does not include third-party JavaScript beyond the fonts and (if enabled) advertising described below.
Fonts and icons
The site loads Google Fonts (Roboto Flex, Space Grotesk, Material Symbols) from Google's CDN. When your browser requests these files, Google receives your IP address and user agent as part of a normal HTTPS request. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
3. Advertising on this website
To support hosting and domain costs, this website (not the Android app) may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. The Interlude Android app itself never displays ads of any kind.
When AdSense is active, Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Specifically:
- Google uses the DoubleClick DART cookie and similar advertising cookies to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.com.
- Google's collection and use of information for advertising is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Important distinction: Seeing an advertisement on this website does not mean the Interlude app shows ads. The app is ad-free by design and contains no advertising SDK.
This website does not display any AdSense unit on the page you are currently reading; AdSense is loaded only on the homepage and documentation pages where a unit is explicitly placed.
4. Third-party services the app contacts
When you use the Interlude app, it may contact the following services directly from your device, solely to provide the feature you requested:
- YouTube / InnerTube — to stream the audio and metadata of the tracks you ask to play. This is the same type of request a browser makes when you visit YouTube.
- Lyrics providers — SimpMusic, BetterLyrics, and Musixmatch, to retrieve synchronized lyrics for the current track.
- Last.fm — only if you explicitly connect your Last.fm account and enable scrobbling.
- Discord — only if you enable Discord Rich Presence.
- Google Cast — only if you cast playback to a compatible device.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy, which we do not control. We recommend reading them if you enable the corresponding feature. You can disable each integration independently in the app's settings.
5. Children's privacy
Interlude is not directed at children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.
6. Your rights
Because the Interlude app stores all of its data locally on your device and does not transmit it to us, you exercise your data rights directly by using Android's built-in controls:
- Access and portability — export data via the app's built-in export feature (where available) or inspect the app's private storage on a rooted device.
- Deletion — uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android Settings to remove all locally stored data.
- Opt-out — disable any optional integration (Last.fm, Discord, Cast) in the app settings.
For data collected by this website's hosting provider or by Google AdSense, please refer to the respective provider's privacy controls linked above.
7. Changes to this policy
If the app or website begins collecting data in a way that materially changes this policy, the change will be announced in the changelog and the "last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of the app or website after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
8. Contact
Questions about this policy can be sent to contact@interludemusic.online or raised as an issue on GitHub.
